Free Cleft And Craniofacial Surgery Outreach, 2018
There is inadequate dissemination of information and education on facial cleft and craniofacial anomalies and its medico-social management. Despite the prevalence of cleft among Nigerians, a large percentage of the populace still live in oblivion of its presence, and when they see its presentations, they attribute it to witchcraft and diabolic forces without any information on how to tackle the disease and resort to un-orthodox means.
The goal of the outreach is to reduce the prevalence of craniofacial deformities in Taraba state through surgical intervention.
The outreach will take place at Taraba State Specialist Hospital, Jalingo, Taraba State from the 6th to 14th of April.
